Welcome to Ubi Québec Unite

Finding our voice for our working conditions

Following Ubisoft’s announcement that work from home would be reduced to two days per week and the following studio Q&A, it has become clear that it has shifted the responsibility for their decisions onto us (the developers), and they have modified our working conditions without any need.

The time has come for us to have a voice regarding our working conditions.

Work/Life Balance

Everyone in the games industry knows about crunch, and Ubisoft Québec is no exception. We invest our time, expertise, and especially our passion for all of the games that we make. However, most know that it’s not always easy to find the work-life balance.

The Pandemic changed everything

We experienced a new era of efficient remote work. For more than four years, at Ubisoft Québec we had true flexibility to work remotely, at the studio, or hybrid based on our needs and the needs of our projects. This changed suddenly and without any explanation as to the need for the change. Many people made changes in their life with the new working conditions (after consulting Ubisoft) and the new hybrid work policy does not respect Ubisoft employees.

Yes, Ubisoft Québec is still a great place to work!

Even with the recent bad decisions, Ubisoft Québec is a great place to work. We have some great conditions that are difficult to find elsewhere. Ubisoft, and more specifically Ubisoft Québec, has produced some amazing games and we’re proud to have contributed.

However, we need to ensure that, as employees, we step up and make sure that our voice is heard loud and clear. We can no longer simply hope that Ubisoft will respect their previous engagements with us, their employees.

Accept Responsibility

Ubisoft must take responsibility for their decisions and not attempt to put the onus of the consequences of their decisions on the shoulders of their employees.

Respect their engagements

Ubisoft must not go back on their engagements simply because they no longer want to respect them. The promises of pay transparency, that everyone will have an equal chance of advancement, evaluations that are just a workplace free of harassment and intimidation, and efforts for diversity and inclusion. For us, these aren’t just buzzwords - it’s a pledge for a better workplace.

Refocus on People

We put people at the centre of everything we do at Ubisoft Québec. The recent decisions have resulted in us straying from our core values.

We want Ubisoft to Succeed!

Not only are we employees, but many of us are partial owners because of the MMO. We have suffered through technological convergence, recent innovations to be more efficient, and our #metoo movement. We work hard to provide amazing games to our players, and do our best to make good decisions to ensure the continued success of Ubisoft.
